Home Buyers Guide

First Time Home Buyers Guide

The process of buying a home, especially for the first time, can be a very time consuming process.  It’s easy feel overwhelmed by both your emotions and the complexities of the process.

If I could give one piece of advice it would be to not rush into anything you don’t understand or aren’t comfortable with. If you have questions, ask them.  If you need more information, get it. If you don’t have peace about something, trust your gut and take a step back. It’s easy to feel pressured during the process whether it’s signing a document you don’t fully understand, or trying to buy a home under a deadline (Ex: before the kids go back to school).

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be compiling a collection of posts outlining the home buying process.  This will be especially helpful for first time home buyers but I’m sure current home owners will find something helpful as well.

Home Buyers Guide Outline will be as follows:

  1. Get educated
  2. Figure out how much you can afford.
  3. Talk to a lender and get pre-qualified
  4. Weigh your wants vs. needs
  5. Shop for a home and a Realtor
  6. Decide and make an offer
  7. Get a home inspection
  8. Additional documents, inspections, and insurance
  9. Close the loan and get the keys
  10. Protect your investment
